Evans Takes Second at CCIW Futures Tournament

DECATUR, Ill. - The Concordia University Wisconsin wrestling team saw freshman KeiKei Evans (San Antonio, Texas) compete at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Futures Tournament, where he made a strong showing in the heavyweight division, finishing second overall with a 1-1 record.

Evans opened his day with a dominant victory, securing a fall at the 2:37 mark against Aiden Ledbetter of Millikin. However, in his second match, Evans was pinned at 2:41 by Augustana's Teke Nieto.

Despite the loss, Evans' second-place finish was sealed when Nieto went on to defeat Ledbetter at the 2:24 mark, earning Evans the runner-up position.

With this result, Evans' freshman season record improves to 10-8 overall.

The rest of the CUW wrestling team will take to the mat tomorrow for the CCIW Tournament. Last year, the Falcons finished third overall and will aim for similar success.
