Lakeland Spoils Wrestling's Senior Day

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin men's wrestling team honored their seniors Thursday night at the R. John Buuck Fieldhouse with a non-conference dual meet against the Lakeland Muskies.

In a hard-fought matchup, the Muskies edged out the Falcons, claiming a 30-22 victory.

The dual meet was marked by intense competition, with the first seven bouts all decided by fall. The Falcons quickly surged to a 12-0 lead, starting with a dominant win by freshman Anastacio Martinez (Albuquerque, N.M.), who secured a pin in just 1:17 at 133 pounds.

Sophomore Christopher Khaosanga (Jackson, Wis.) kept the momentum rolling for CUW, notching a fall victory in the early moments of the second period at 141 pounds.

However, Lakeland answered back in a big way, reeling off five consecutive falls to take a commanding 30-12 lead.

Despite the deficit, the Falcons showed resilience. Junior Ruben Vasquez (Westminster, Calif.) earned a forfeit win at 197 pounds, and senior Peyton Smith (Milwaukee, Wis.) battled through a grueling contest against Lakeland's Diego Morales. Smith emerged victorious with a major decision, improving his dual record to 7-1 on the season.

The Falcons will now look ahead to their next dual competition at the CCIW Duals hosted by Carthage, Saturday, January 25th.
