Penalty Box Confessions: Successful first half for the Falcons
Falcons Fans,
As we come to an end of our first semester, excited to go home for a nice long break before semester two, we all find ourselves collectively dreading review week. With exam week right around the corner, why not sit down, relax, and enjoy your final women's hockey blog of the year. The women's hockey team has gone above and beyond breaking some team statistics found in the past.
Our junior goalie, Christina Pattengale, has broken the record for most shutouts in a career. Sophomore goalie, Bea Thomson, tied the record for most shutouts in a year. Senior Lexi Holman finds herself just three goals away from breaking the most goals scored in a single career as a Falcon, with at least 13 games left in the season, she is sure to set the bar very high for our future Falcons. Our team collectively has broken the record for most wins in a single semester in over 10 years!! Also, this past weekend, two of our freshmen, Allison McElwee and Vyctoria Smith found the back of the net scoring their first collegiate goals with our 5-0 with over Northland College. With all of these promising achievements, the team has accomplished this year, who knows what is next for our team during the second half of our season.
On a side note, with an unfortunate tie, 0-0, against Northland College, to end the 2017 year, you can bet that your women's hockey team is ready to tackle the new year as soon as we get back on the ice for our first practice on New Years Day.
Your Falcon's first games of the New Year are against Bethel on January 5th and 6th at 4:30 pm and 3:00 pm. We understand if our fellow students cannot attend, as it is during
Christmas break. But we are all expecting more than our regular crowd to make an appearance during our games versus Finlandia on the 26th and 27th of January at 7:00 pm and 3:00
pm. Seeing as school starts on January 29th, why not spend your final days of break with your favourite athletes around campus, am I right? As a team, we would love it if more students showed up to games to cheer us on… we are just as cool as our men's team, I promise!
We all hope you have a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year, but before that, we hope that all students, especially those who find themselves in study hall, receive the best grades they can on their finals next week!!
