Chasing Records

Graduate. Earn First Team All-Conference recognition. Play in the NCAA Tournament. And re-write the record books along the way. 

These are just four of senior Lexi Holman's goals.  The other 33 have come on the ice.

With four goals through the team's first 12 games, Holman's career total for goals scored now sits fifth all time.  However, the Sauk Rapids native is well on her way to surpassing the school record for goals in a career (36). 

"I knew pretty early on in my hockey career that I wanted to play forward because that's where all the action is," said Holman.

Since joining the Falcons women's hockey team in 2014, Holman has constantly been in on the action.  She currently ranks first all-time in school history in career goals per game (0.38) and power play goals (10), while ranking high in every other statistical category.  Not to mention being named captain as both a junior and again this season as a senior.

While Holman's list of career achievements may be lengthy and continuing to grow with each game played, she tends to focus on the little things that she says get overlooked at times. 

"We've got a fun group of girls and while we're very focused and determined when it comes to practice and playing during games, I think we still understand that it's important to have fun and enjoy it all."

Holman and the women's hockey team have certainly enjoyed themselves thus far this season.  With a 7-4-1 overall record and a 5-2-1 NCHA Conference record, the Falcons are among the top five teams in the NCHA and will look to carry their momentum into the end of the regular season.

While Holman continues to chase history, it helps to know her biggest fans are there to watch her on a consistent basis. No matter where the Falcons are playing, Holman's parents are usually in the crowd watching their daughter rewrite the Falcons record books.

"My parents have always been the biggest supporters of my hockey career.  They always come to every home game and they go to a lot of our away games also," said Holman. "It really means a lot to have them at games because I know how long of a drive it is from Minnesota.  So having them there is always special."

As she continues her chase of records, Holman holds true to one thing. 

"There's not a feeling that comes close to feeling as good as the feeling you get when you score a goal."

That is a feeling that Holman hopes to have experienced more than any other player in Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Hockey history.
