Pattengale secures NCHA Defensive Player of the Week honors

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Junior goalie Christina Pattengale has been named the NCHA Defensive Player of the Week for the events of November 6-12, the league office announced Tuesday. Pattengale played a big role in the Falcons Saturday 3-2 overtime win over Marian.

Pattengale (Portage, Mich.) tallied 35 saves in a 3-2 overtime win over Marian Saturday, helping the Falcons secure a weekend sweep. Of the 35 saves, 16 of those came in the second period and 10 more came in the third.

Pattengale was especially impressive when the Falcons were on the penalty kill, helping her team kill off eight of nine Marian power play opportunities. Among those was a two-minute 5-on-3 for the Sabres, which started late in the opening stanza.

Olivia Spellmire of Lake Forest was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week after recording a hat trick in each game against Aurora. The NCHA Weekly Release can be found here.

Pattengale and the Falcons are on the road this weekend for two games at St. Norbert. The opener is set for Friday at 7 p.m.
