Van Dusseldorp goal leads Men's Soccer past Beloit

BELOIT, Wis. – Sophomore Keegan Van Dusseldorp scored just 14:32 into play and junior goalkeeper Eric Vogel recorded his second consecutive shutout as the Concordia University Wisconsin men's soccer team defeated Beloit College, 1-0 Saturday afternoon.

Van Dusseldorp (Burlington, Wis.) netted his first score of the season off a corner kick from junior captain Diego Campos (Milwaukee, Wis.), who was playing in his first match of the season.

"It was good to get Diego back out there today," said Falcons head coach Tom Saleska. "He sent in an excellent corner and Keegan was able to put it in for our goal."

That would be all the offense Vogel (Itasca, Ill.) and the rest of the Falcon defense would need as they continued their strong play to start the 2013 season. The defense made life easy on Vogel as he did not record a save in the win as Beloit only tallied one shot. The Falcons would finish with 16 shots in the match.

"Our defense played outstanding today and Eric got his second consecutive shutout which was nice to see," Saleska said.

Freshman Nicolas Bocanegra (Grafton, Wis.) recorded four shots to lead the Falcons. Van Dusseldorp put all three of his shots on goal as CUW made Belot goalkeeper BJ Kiser work all afternoon. Kiser finished with eight saves. Senior captain Jacob Pope (Muskego, Wis.), Campos and freshman Josiah Ochoa (Mundelein, Ill.) all had two shots for the Falcons.

CUW (2-1-0) returns to action Tuesday when it completes its season-opening four-match road swing with a trip to take on North Park University. The matchup is set to begin at 7 p.m. at the Holmgren Sports Complex in Chicago.
