Men’s Lacrosse defeats Fontbonne
ST. LOUIS,
Mo. -- Concordia University Wisconsin overcame an early
3-1 deficit to beat Midwest Lacrosse Conference opponent Fontbonne
University, 12-10, on Saturday.
Freshman Derek Brueske (Hopkins, Minn.) was the leader
with five goals and two assists as the Falcons improved to 4-3 in
MLC play and 6-5 overall.
Statistics were almost dead even as CUW outshot the
hosts 45-42 and scooped up 45 ground balls compared to 42 for
FU.
Head coach Jeff Roberts' team was 3-3 on extra man
opportunities and that proved to be a critical factor as FU had
only one advantage opportunity.
This was a game of runs, as CUW scored
five-consecutive goals to erase the early 3-1 deficit before FU
came back with four-consecutive tallies to tie the
match.
