Men’s Lacrosse falls to Mount St. Joseph

MEQUON, Wis. - Winners of five of their previous six games, the Concordia University Wisconsin men's lacrosse team suffered a 15-10 loss at the hands of the College of Mount St. Joseph on Saturday afternoon at Fitting Field.

CUW (5-5, 3-3 MLC) battled back from a four-goal deficit in the second quarter to tie the game at 8-8 early in the second half, and trailed 11-10 with three minutes remaining in the third quarter. CMSJ (4-7, 2-2 MLC) took control from there, scoring the game's final four goals to run away with the victory.

The Falcons got three goals from sophomore Sam Wladyka (Winnipeg, Manitoba), while freshman Derek Brueske (Hopkins, Minn.) chipped in with a goal and three assists. Sophomores Danny Dahms (Calgary, Alberta) and Justin Krause (Hartland, Wis.) also made solid contributions, scoring two goals apiece. Goalie Zack Davis (La Porte, Ind.) made 11 saves for the CUW.

CUW trailed 7-3 with just under 12 minutes to go in the second quarter, but fought their way back with the help of two goals on the man-advantage just before halftime. The third quarter saw both teams going back and forth, but the Lions took over in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

The Falcons will now have a week of practice before they travel to St. Louis, Mo., next Saturday to face Fontbonne University. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
