Neumann's goal gives Field Hockey another SAA win

FERRUM, Va. – For the second straight Sunday, the Concordia University Wisconsin Field Hockey team posted a 1-0 Southern Athletic Association victory, this time defeating Ferrum on the road. Callie Neumann scored the game-winner in the 16th minute to help lead the Falcons to their second SAA victory.

THE BASICS

- Records: CUW 5-8, 2-4 SAA; Ferrum 3-13, 1-5 SAA

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Neumann (Dousman, Wis.) scored her second goal of the season in the 16th minute, providing the only offense on Sunday. Sam Dunn (Sussex, Wis.) set up the Neumann game-winner.

- The Falcons defense completely shut down Ferrum, limiting them to four shots for the afternoon. Only one of those shots reached Kennedy Boyer (Saline, Mich.) as she finished with her fourth shutout of the season.

- CUW tallied 11 shots in the contest, including a game-best four from Dunn. Rachel Larson (Fenton, Mo.) and Alexandra Sly (Monument, Colo.) each fired three shots. The Falcons also held a 14-5 edge in penalty corners.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Falcons have shut out their opponents four times this season. Boyer and CUW have recorded shutouts in wins over Lindenwood Belleville, Oberlin, Transylvania, and now, Ferrum.

- CUW finished its first conference regular season with a 2-4 league record. The Falcons defeated Ferrum and Transylvania and fell in contests against Rhodes, Sewanee, Centre, and Hendrix.

- CUW will play an exhibition contest next Sunday against the UW-Madison Club Team. That game is set to start at noon.
