Field Hockey comeback effort falls just short against Earlham

GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Field Hockey team trailed Earlham, 3-1, with just over eight minutes remaining in a Saturday morning, neutral-site contest. The Falcons rallied back, scoring two goals in a span of 19 seconds, but saw the Quakers strike for the game-winner shortly after, resulting in a 4-3 setback.

- Records: CUW 2-4; Earlham 3-5

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trailing 3-1, the Falcons scored with 8:04 left in the second half to cut the Earlham lead to 3-2. Rachel Larson (Fenton, Mo.) had the score, which came 19 seconds before Kelsey Fulton (Sussex, Wis.) tied the game. Sam Dunn (Sussex, Wis.) assisted on the game-tying score.

- The Quakers responded just 18 seconds later for the game-winning score. Megan Hut, who finished the contest with two goals, tallied the game-winner for Earlham.

- The game was 1-1 at the half and it was the Falcons who jumped out to an early lead Saturday morning. Dunn tallied the opening score just 1:03 into play, coming off an assist from Fulton. The lead held until the 23rd minute when Kudzai Mushongahande tied the game for Earlham.

- The Quakers scored 1:55 into the second half to take their first lead of the contest on Hut's first goal. Earlham went up 3-1 in the 56th minute before the Falcons rallied back to tie the game.

- Kennedy Boyer (Saline, Mich.) finished the contest with five saves for CUW. Earlham outshot the Falcons, 15-9, for the game.

UP NEXT
- The Falcons will remain in Greencastle for another neutral site matchup tomorrow. CUW will battle Centre in a conference matchup. The Falcons hosted Centre two weeks ago and fell by a 4-0 score. Tomorrow's game is set for a 2:30 (eastern) start.
