Baseball gets Senior Day win

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons split their final regular-season home games with the Stars as Concordia Wisconsin fell in the opener 3-0 before responding with a 3-0 win over Dominican in the second game on Saturday afternoon.

-Records: CUW 14-16 (10-8 NACC), DU 17-16 (11-7 NACC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Falcons had a tough time in game one as Stars starting pitcher Trevor Fulmer threw a complete game shutout, allowing only four hits and one walk while striking out seven and getting a 3-0 win.
-Three of the Falcons four hits in game one were doubles.
-After a ceremony that honored the senior athletes on the team between the games, the Falcons flipped the script and got their own 3-0 shutout win on the day.
-In the third inning, the Falcon scored twice. Johannes Haakenson (Janesville, Wis.) drove in Drew Johnson (Menasha, Wis.) with an RBI groundout. Spencer Garnett (Clarendon Hills, Ill.) walked next, after which Austen Dart (Algoma, Wis.) drove in Christian Gerner (Mequon, Wis.) with an RBI single to right field.
-Leading off the fifth for the Falcons, Johnson sent a shot over the head of the retreating center fielder and raced around the bases for a triple. Gerner followed with a deep fly to right that allowed Johnson to score the third run of the game for CUW.
-Alex Prickett (Franklin, Wis.) pitched eight shutout innings for the Falcons, striking out six.
-In the ninth, Beau Wills (Coal City, Ill.) earned his fifth save of the season.

-The Falcons face Illinois Tech in a doubleheader on the road on Sunday, April 28, starting at 1pm.
