Ranieri collects ABCA Third Team All-Midwest Region honor

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Senior Dan Ranieri added another All-Region honor to his 2018 resume as he was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Midwest All-Region Third Team, the organization announced Tuesday.

The All-Region recognition is the second in as many days for Ranieri, a senior third baseman from Loves Park, Illinois. On Monday, Ranieri was named to the D3Baseball.com All-Midwest Region Second Team.

The senior posted a .333 batting average and drove in 33 runs for CUW this year, playing in all 42 games. Ranieri collected 54 hits, including 11 extra-base hits with nine doubles, a triple, and a home run.

Ranieri proved to be a threat on the base paths as well, swiping 15 bases compared to being caught just three times. He finished the year with a .421 on-base percentage and scored 28 runs.

Ranieri was one of 14 players from the NACC to be chosen to one of the three All-Midwest Region Teams by the ABCA. Among those included five First Team selections: Mitch Wilson, Joe Silva, and Mike Formella of Concordia Chicago, Matt Segovia of Dominican, and Jacob Stockman of Aurora.

Formella also was named the Region's Pitcher of the Year while Cal Aldridge of UW-Whitewater was chosen as the Position Player of the Year.
