No. 1 Warhawks blank Falcons in non-conference tilt

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Baseball team was blanked by No. 1 UW-Whitewater, 7-0, in a non-conference game Tuesday at Kapco Park. The game was the final contest for CUW before the NACC Tournament which begins Thursday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Warhawks used three pitchers to combine for the shutout, including starter Matt O'Sullivan. The southpaw went five innings and allowed just three hits while punching out five. Westin Muir struck out six in three scoreless and hitless innings, walking two, and Riley Gruetzmacher tossed a perfect ninth for UW-Whitewater.

- The Falcons used five different pitchers in the game with Michael Enriquez (Chicago, Illinois) the most effective. Enriquez threw two scoreless frames, the second and third innings.

- The Falcons totaled just three hits in the game, one each from Dan Ranieri (Loves Park, Ill.), Spencer Garnett (Clarendon Hills, Ill.), and Kyle Washburn (Pleasant Prairie, Wis.).

- The Warhawks put two on the board in the first inning and added a three-run frame in the seventh. UW-Whitewater tacked on runs in the fifth and eighth innings in the 7-0 win. Alex Doud paced the top-ranked team by going 3-for-3 with three RBI.

UP NEXT
- The Falcons will turn their attention to the NACC Tournament. CUW, which is the six seed in the league tournament, will play third-seeded MSOE in the opening game Thursday at 10 a.m.
