TUCSON, Ariz. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Baseball team was swept by Framingham State in a doubleheader Monday on the Falcons Arizona spring trip. CUW fell in the opener, 10-0, before dropping the second game by a 7-4 final.

FRAMINGHAM STATE 10, CUW 0
- The opener started off as a pitchers dual between Bradlee Sumner (Ocala, Fla.) and the Rams Christopher Riga. Neither team scored until the Rams plated four runs in the bottom of the fifth. Framingham would add six runs in the sixth to put the game away.
- Riga had the Falcons off balance all game, finishing with 14 strikeouts. CUW finished the game with six hits, including two from Nathan Thyssen (Appleton, Wis.).
- Sumner threw five innings and allowed four runs on four hits. He walked two and struck out three.
- Cameron Borelli hit two home runs in the opener for the Rams, one in the fifth and another in the sixth.
FRAMINGHAM STATE 7, CUW 4
- The Rams kept rolling early in game two, scoring seven runs in their first two at-bats. The Falcons chipped away at the seven-run deficit, scoring two runs in the third and one each in the fourth and fifth frames.
- Niko Kutsulis (Homer Glen, Ill.) was outstanding in relief for CUW in game two. Kutsulis came on in the second inning and threw 5.1 innings, allowing just one unearned run. He struck out eight batters and scattered five hits.
- Thyssen again tallied two hits for the Falcons, as did catcher Kyle Hilliard (Oak Forest, Ill.). Hilliard, who drove runs, was one of three Falcons to double in the contest. Dan Ranieri (Loves Park, Ill.) and Kyle Washburn (Pleasant Prairie, Wis.) added doubles in the setback.
UP NEXT
- The Falcons will return to action Wednesday when they take on Dubuque and Cornell. CUW and Dubuque are set for a 9 a.m. start in Arizona and the Falcons and Cornell are scheduled for a 12:30 p.m. first pitch.
