Ranieri, Plachinski earn All-NACC honors

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Seniors Dan Ranieri and Scott Plachinski received All-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference honors for their play during the 2018 season, the league office announced Thursday morning.

Ranieri (Loves Park, Ill.) was named First Team All-NACC after an impressive senior campaign. During the regular season, the third basemen hit .349 with 27 runs scored and 33 RBI. Ranieri tallied nine doubles, along with a triple and a home run while batting in the middle of the Falcons lineup. He owns a .441 on-base percentage and stole 15 bases.

Plachinski (South Milwaukee, Wis.) had another strong season as the Falcons top arm in the bullpen. The closer posted a 1.30 ERA over 27.2 innings pitched and finished the year with five saves and a 4-1 record. He enters the conference tournament with a scoreless innings streak at 14.2 frames. In two conference doubleheaders this year (Concordia Chicago and Benedictine), the senior right-hander picked up a win in one game and a save in the other.

Joe Silva of Concordia Chicago was chosen as the league's Position Player of the Year while Jacob Stockman of Aurora was honored as the Pitcher of the Year. Caleb Willert of MSOE was tabbed as the league's Freshman of the Year and Jordan Baitinger of Marian was voted by his peers as the Coach of the Year.
