Baseball tabbed second in NACC Preseason Poll

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Following a trip to the NACC Tournament Championship Game last season, the Concordia University Wisconsin Baseball team was picked to finish second in the league in 2018, according to the preseason poll released Thursday. The poll is voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.

The Falcons (28-13 in 2017) reached the league title game and finished second in the regular season, posting a 15-5 NACC record. CUW received 199 points in the poll, trailing five-time defending champion Concordia Chicago, who was a near-unanimous pick to repeat. The Cougars received 21-of-22 possible first-place votes.

Benedictine (195) was picked third, followed by Aurora (189), and MSOE (146). Dominican and Edgewood (124) tied for sixth in the preseason poll. The league's top six teams qualify for the NACC Baseball Tournament, hosted by Concordia Wisconsin.

Rockford, who received the last remaining first-place vote was slated eighth with 87 poll points. Marian and Wisconsin Lutheran (58) were tied for ninth, while Lakeland (31) rounded out the poll.

The Falcons will open the season with three games in Chapman, California the weekend of March 2-4. The first two games will be against Chapman, while the third will be a neutral site contest versus Ursinus.
