Baseball season comes to an end at NACC Tournament

MEQUON, Wis. – Dominican University raced out to a 9-1 lead after two innings, ending the Concordia University Wisconsin Baseball season at the NACC Tournament Friday morning. The Falcons would fall by a 10-2 score, ending the year with a 23-19 record.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons struck first on Friday as leadoff man Dan Ranieri (Loves Park, Ill.) opened the game with a double and Mitchell Dubnicka (Hartland, Wis.) followed with an RBI double, making the score 1-0. Dominican answered quickly, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first on RBI from Cody Schuster and JT Hicks.

- The game would turn in the bottom of the second when the Stars scored seven runs, making the score 9-1. Joe Kukla had an RBI double in the frame, while Schuster, Hicks and Nathaniel Natividad all drove in runs with singles.

- The Falcons would score their final run in the top of the seventh on an RBI single from Dubnicka. He would pace the offense with three hits, while sophomore Michael Szeszol (Lake Bluff, Ill.) and senior Nate Van Ells (Greendale, Wis.) each collected two hits.

- Chance Emlund got the win for Dominican, throwing 6.2 innings and allowing two runs. He struck out a pair and issued one walk. Junior Andrew Heideman (Bakersfield, Calif.) took the loss as he was chased in the second inning.

- Senior Josh Ruppel (Belgium, Wis.) was the third Falcons pitcher in the game and he threw well, tossing six quality innings. He struck out three, while allowing just one run.
