Sharon signs professional contract with Schaumburg Boomers

Former Concordia University Wisconsin left handed pitcher Joel Sharon has signed a professional contract with the Schaumburg Boomers. The Boomers are a member of the Frontier League, an independent professional baseball league established in 1993.

"Joel worked extremely hard to earn this opportunity," Falcons head coach Eddy Morgan stated of his former player. "For the past six months he has put in a tremendous amount of work to keep his dream alive of playing professional baseball."

Sharon (Milwaukee, Wis.) was a four-year pitcher/outfielder for the Falcons. He signed with the Boomers as a pitcher. The southpaw threw 103 innings for CUW over his four-year career and had his best season in 2014. That year Sharon posted a 2.74 ERA in 49.1 innings, while striking out 29.

"We pride ourselves in having the best player development in college baseball," said Morgan. "However, we can only provide those tools. Joel's attitude and work ethic are the main reasons he is getting this opportunity."

The Frontier League has produced over 20 players who have reached the major leagues. In 2015 the league had over 50 players playing at various levels of minor and major league baseball.

The Schaumburg Boomers will begin their 2016 season on May 13. Their full schedule can be found on boomersbaseball.com
