Mueller, Heideman pitch Baseball to Senior Day sweep over Edgewood

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin pitching staff is throwing its best at the right time. Senior Andrew Mueller and junior Andrew Heideman continued that recent theme for the Falcons Saturday in a doubleheader sweep over Edgewood College at Kapco Park. Mueller got the ball in a 7-1 game one win, while Heideman followed with a complete game shutout in a 5-0 game two victory.

THE BASICS
- Final Scores: Concordia Wisconsin 7, Edgewood 1 (Game 1); Concordia Wisconsin 5, Edgewood 0 (Game 2)
- Location: Kapco Park – Mequon, Wis.
- Records: Concordia Wisconsin 22-17, 13-9 NACC; Edgewood 14-22, 9-11 NACC

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
- The visiting Eagles scored their only run of the day in the top of the 1st when Garrett Bogucki was gifted a double by the Falcons having his two-out hit land between several infielders. Mueller (Horicon, Wis.) was dominant from there on, allowing five hits in the complete game effort. He struck out one, and issued just one walk, while throwing 114 pitches for his sixth win of the season.

- The Falcons responded to the Eagles first-inning run with a two-RBI single from sophomore Kyle Hilliard (Oak Forest, Ill.) in the bottom half of the frame. Hilliard continued his incredible run at the dish, going 4-for-5 with four RBI in the opener. He added a two-RBI single in the sixth inning.

- CUW would also score two in the bottom of the third when junior Bryan Thomas (Lowell, Ind.) roped a two-RBI double. The Falcons would add a run in the fifth on an RBI sac fly from junior Matt Schubert (West Bend, Wis.)

- Thomas tallied two hits for the Falcons, adding to Hillarid's four to help pace the attack. Junior Mitchell Dubnicka (Hartland, Wis.) scored three times, while Hilliard and sophomore Dan Ranieri (Loves Park, Ill.) each crossed the plate twice.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
- It was Heideman (Bakersfield, Calif) who shined in game two, allowing three hits in the complete game. He struck out seven and walked just one, as he hardly faced a threat from the Edgewood offense in his fourth win of the year.

- The Falcons jumped on Edgewood for three runs in the first, highlighted by a two-RBI single from Thomas. Sophomore Anthony Lombardi (Kildeer, Ill.) would add a run-scoring single of his own in the frame.

- CUW would score two unearned runs in the fourth to push its lead to 5-0. Heideman didn't need any more run support anyway, as he was dominant for the Falcons.
