Heideman, Gausman collect Baseball weekly honors

Heideman named NACC Pitcher of the Week; Gausman garners D3Baseball Team of the Week honors for second time

The Concordia University Wisconsin Baseball team got strong pitching performances up and down its starting rotation over a 5-0 week last week. The Falcons were rewarded for a pair of those efforts, as juniors Andrew Heideman and Dylan Gausman collected weekly honors.

Heideman (Bakersfield, Calif.) was named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week. He tossed a complete-game shutout in a 5-0 win over Edgewood Saturday. Heideman was dominant against the Eagles, allowing just four baserunners to reach, surrendering three hits and issuing one walk. He struck out seven for the complete-game victory. Heideman lowered his ERA in conference games to 1.15 with the win.

Gausman (Eagan, Minn.) was named to the D3Baseball.com Team of the Week for the second time in three weeks after tossing a complete-game shutout of his own. Gausman went to work against the No. 11 team in Division III Baseball, UW-Whitewater, and kept the Warhawks off balance all afternoon. He allowed four hits, walked two and struck out four in an 8-0 winning. The shutout was the second straight at home for Gausman, who threw a no-hitter against Maranatha Baptist University in his previous home start.

Heideman, Gausman and the rest of the Falcons will turn their attention to the NACC Tournament, which begins Thursday at Kapco Park. The Falcons will take on MSOE at 1 p.m.
