Five Women’s Hockey players earn NCHA All-Academic honors

STEVENS POINT, Wis. -- Concordia University Wisconsin women's hockey player Alyssa Isaackson (Marshall, Minn.) is among a select group of three senior student-athletes who earned Northern Collegiate Hockey Association All Academic honors for a third-consecutive year based on their 2010-11 grade point average. UW-Stevens Point's Ariel Novak and Marian University's Kaytlin Ruzicka were the other three-time senior winners.

Isaakson is completing her Bachelor's Degree in exercise physiology. Isaakson's junior teammate Sara Cole (Plymouth, Minn.) also received the NCHA academic distinction for a second-consecutive year. Cole is majoring business at CUW. In addition, senior Hilary Christiansen (Eagan, Minn.), junior Carly Piras (Eden Prairie, Minn.) and sophomore Maxine Blohowiak (Green Bay, Wis.) are first-time CUW honorees.

"We had only nine players actually eligible for this distinction, considering that we graduated a majority of our team after the 2010-11 season, so five out of nine is very impressive," explained Coach Jim Ingman.
