Women’s Hockey News and Notes; Falcons host Lake Forest Tuesday at 7 p.m.
MEQUON, Wis. - The Concordia University Wisconsin women's hockey team returns home to the friendly confines of the Ozaukee Ice Center on Tuesday to begin a three-game homestand. The Falcons host Northern Collegiate Hockey Association foe Lake Forest College on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The Falcons conclude the homestand with a two-game set against Finlandia University. Friday's contest begins at 7 p.m. at the Ozaukee Ice Center, while Saturday's matchup will be at 12 p.m. and will be played at the Bradley Center in downtown Milwaukee.

ROOKIES BETWEEN THE PIPES: Kaitlyn Evans (Fairbanks, Alaska) and Andrea Mizanskey (Palos Heights, Ill.) have been given the reigns by head coach Jim Ingman to anchor the defense this season, despite this being their rookie campaigns. The two have combined to save 88.4 percent of the shots they have seen. Each have been given the chance to shine on their own and it has resulted in their first career victory, respectively. Evans (1-1-0) earned the season-opening start and recorded 24 saves in a 5-4 overtime win against Marian University on Nov. 1. Mizanskey (1-0-0) rejected 28 saves during a 4-2 win over Saint Mary's University (Minn.) on Nov. 5.
HECKENDORF BEGINS CAREER WITH A BANG: Freshman Emily Heckendorf (Merrill, Wis.) began her career with two all-important goals to end the first period and begin the second period in the season opener against Marian University. The 5-foot-3 forward lit the lamp twice to tie the contest at 2-2 before assisting on two more goals, one being the game winner, to start her career with four points.
SPREADING THE WEALTH: Ideally, the Falcons would like to have a go-to player on the offensive side of the puck, but having multiple weapons can also be a luxury. CUW hasn't had a player score a point in all three games this season; however, this isn't anything new for the Falcons as seven or more players have recorded double-digit points each of the last three years. On the year, 12 players have recorded at least a point during a game, led by freshman Emily Heckendorf's (Merrill, Wis.) four points - two goals, two assists.
ON THE RISE: Head coach Jim Ingman's win total over the past four seasons has continually increased. Last season the Falcons finished 13-11-4, their first winning season, and a 10-6-4 mark in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. He also led his team to the semifinals of the conference tournament.
LIVINING ON THE EDGE: During head coach Jim Ingman's 129 career games at the helm of the program his teams have played in 19 overtime contests, with a 2-4-13 record. In those contests the Falcons have come from behind in 12 games to force overtime, four with power play goals and one with a shorthanded tally.
