Women’s Hockey falls to St. Norbert

De PERE, Wis. - Playing their first game after two weeks away from game action, the Concordia University Wisconsin women's hockey team came up short against St. Norbert College on Wednesday night, losing 3-1 at the Resch Olympic Pavilion.

A second period goal from freshman Emily Heckendorf (Merrill, Wis.) tied the score at 1-1 heading into the final frame, but the Green Knights lit the lamp twice in the third period to seal the victory.

The Falcons (5-3-0, 4-2-0 NCHA) got 31 saves out of freshman goalie Andrea Mizanskey (Palos Heights, Ill.), but it wasn't enough as CUW saw its three-game winning streak come to an end.

After a scoreless first period, St. Norbert (4-4-0, 3-2-0 NCHA) got on the board with a goal from Karissa Anderson nearly eight and a half minutes into the second.

Less than a minute later, however, CUW answered when Heckendorf scored her fifth goal of the season off a feed from senior Hilary Christiansen (Eagan, Minn.), who now leads the team with seven assists and 10 points overall.

The score remained knotted at 1-1 heading into the third period, but the Green Knights took over from there. Zoe Kurth and Lotta Haarala both scored in the early moments of the third, giving St. Norbert a lead they would never relinquish.

The Falcons look to bounce back against another NCHA rival next Tuesday, when they take on Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Ill. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
