Women’s Hockey swept by UW-Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT, Wis. - In their final game of the 2011-12 season, the Concordia University Wisconsin women's hockey team lost to University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point by the same score as Friday night, falling 2-1 on Saturday afternoon inside Ice Hawks Arena.

CUW outshot the Pointers 27-21, and got a second period goal from junior defenseman Carly Piras (Eden Prairie, Minn.), but it wasn't enough.

Stevens Point (12-11-2, 11-8-1 NCHA) got all it would need in the first period of play, scoring twice in the opening two minutes off goals from Brooke Hanson and Erin Marvin.

Freshman goalie Jennifer DeGeorge (Waukesha, Wis.) made 19 saves for the Falcons.

CUW ends its season with a 7-15-3 overall record, along with a 5-13-2 mark in NCHA play. The Falcons were winless in the season's final 12 games, going 0-10-2.
