Women’s Basketball represented well in NACC postseason awards

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin won the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference regular season title and as a result was honored accordingly in the NACC postseason awards, the league office announced.

The Falcons won the NACC regular season with an 18-2 record and finished 22-5 overall. They won 20 or more games for the sixth time under the direction of head coach Stacey Brunner-Jones.

Senior Taylor DeLong was tabbed with All-NACC First Team honors, while senior Samantha Blissett and juniors Audrey Scharmer and Brianna Wagner were named to the All-NACC Second Team list. Head coach Stacey Brunner-Jones was selected as the Coach of the Year.

DeLong (Milwaukee, Wis.) finished third in the NACC with a 56.8 field goal percentage and 10th with 100 field goals made. The forward averaged 12.6 points and 5.5 rebounds in NACC play posted two double-doubles during league play. On three occasions recorded double-digit field goals made.

Blissett (Springfield, Ill.) was third in the NACC with 93 assists, fifth in steals with 44 and sixth with a 1.70 assist-to-turnover ratio. She had double-figure scoring games in conference action and recorded three or more steals eight times against NACC foes.

Scharmer (Winona, Minn.) was top-10 in the NACC for field goal percentage (48.9), offensive rebounds (53), total rebounds (162) and rebounds per game (8.1). She led the team with six double-doubles and five were in league play. The forward shot 50 percent or better 17 times during the year. 

Wagner (Fond du Lac, Wis.) was fourth in the NACC with 22 rejections and had three double-doubles. She scored 10 or more points nine times in league play and hauled in six or more rebounds nine times. The forward shot 50 percent or better six times during the season.

Brunner-Jones was named head coach of the year, along with the assistance of her staff, helped the Falcons capture the top seed in the NACC Tournament.
