First quarter cushion gives Falcons road win over Spartans

AURORA, Ill. – Concordia Wisconsin began the game on a 10-0 run and built a sizeable cushion after the first quarter before eventually winning 75-56 at Aurora on Saturday to stay undefeated in NACC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons began the game on a 10-0 scoring run, which included 3-pointer from Clara Chambers and Baylee Barker. As well, they also ended the period on a 10-2 scoring run to go ahead 24-6 after just 15 minutes of play.
- The lead grew to 20 points through the second half before closed the book on another considerable victory over a NACC opponent.
- Concordia Wisconsin held a 23-4 difference in points off turnovers after forcing 19 Aurora errors, led 30-12 in bench production and outscored the Spartans 30-18 in the paint. They also scored 13 second chance points off 11 offensive rebounds.
- Senior Taylor DeLong (Milwaukee, Wis.) continued her terrific start to the season with a career-best 24 points on 11-of-16 shooting. She also had four rebounds. Both her field goals made and attempts were career-highs.
- Junior Audrey Scharmer (Winona, Minn.) had a double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds) and also dished out five assists.
- Senior Samantha Blissett (Springfield, Ill.) and junior Brianna Wagner (Fond du Lac, Wis.) each had 12 points. Blissett also recorded six assists and four rebounds.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Falcons played 13 players in the win and eight found the scoring column.
- Scharmer's perfection at the free throw line was the 44th time it had occurred in program history (minimum six made).
- Concordia Wisconsin is one of three remaining undefeated teams in the NACC along with Benedictine and Wisconsin Lutheran.

THE OPPOSITION
- Adriana Ramirez led the Spartans with 23 points (7-of-7 free throws), eight rebounds and three assists.
- Alyssa Brems scored 15 points (three 3-pointers).
- Aurora had nine players scored at least a field goal or more.
