Women's Tennis earns road victory, clinches berth in NAC Tournament
KOHLER, Wis. – It was a 7-2 road victory for Concordia University Wisconsin's tennis team over Lakeland College on Saturday afternoon, but more importantly the win clinched a berth into the conference tournament for the Falcons.
CUW (9-1, 9-1 NAC) again won all three doubles matches, as it normally does, to take a commanding 3-0 lead early in the match. The doubles combination of senior Julie Spransy (Brown Deer, Wis.) and senior Jaclyn Ward (Franklin, Wis.) led the Falcons with an 8-2 win over their opponents.
In singles play it was Ward and freshman Taylor Reszczynski (Greenfield, Wis.) who defeated their Muskie (5-7, 3-7 NAC) opponents by scores of 6-2, 6-0. The Falcons dropped two singles matches for the first time this season during a victory.
"A lot of people ask me how I can be so laidback while watching the women play," head coach Steven Anschutz said. "And the answer is very simple, it's because I have confidence in these women and know they will dig deep when things get tough."
CUW concludes the fall portion of their 2012-13 regular season schedule on Tuesday at Wisconsin Lutheran College at 6 p.m. The NAC Tournament won't be played until the spring.
