Foresters Top the Falcons

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's hockey team fell to 3-6 in the 2023-24 campaign on Tuesday night, dropping in a 3-0 contest with Lake Forest after the Foresters notched one goal in each period to surge past Concordia.

Abby Meyer opened the scoring for Lake Forest at 6:11 in the first period, one-timing the puck into the net on the power play to register her third goal of the season.

Meyer would once again score for the Foresters in the second period, collecting another goal on the power play at 12:23 to grant Lake Forest a multi-goal advantage.

Lake Forest would collect the final goal of the game midway through the third, as Holly Kiernan picked up her first goal of the season on a rebound off of a Victoria Liu shot.

The Foresters received another power play opportunity late in the game, but Falcons goaltender Annalina Van Hercke (Castle Rock, Colo.) stood tall in the net, preventing Lake Forest from adding to its lead. The senior would go on to record a total of 20 saves on the evening.

Sophomore Makayla Spejcher (Green Bay, Wis.) and junior Natalie Mackrell (Stuttgart, Germany) each registered six shots on goal, representing the highest individual marks in the Falcons' team total of 30 shots.

Concordia will emerge from the other side of the Thanksgiving break on December 1 in the first leg of a back-to-back with a conference foe in the Adrian Bulldogs, which sit at 5-1 in the 2023-24 season.
