SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – The Falcons closed the Puerto Rico Clásico on Tuesday against the Bullets of Gettysburg. The Bullets bounced the Falcons to 5-5 on the season with a 61-31 victory.
The Bullets are coming off a 2021-22 season where they advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament Second Round.
Defense was the name of the game in the first quarter. Senior Aubrey Buchholtz (Seymour, Wis.) put the Falcons on the scoreboard with a layup. A three-point basket from junior Lily Guerra (Yorkville, Ill.) then closed the first-quarter scoring at 7-5.
A layup from senior Reagan Obry (Neenah, Wis.) cut the deficit to 14-10, but that is the closest Concordia could get on Tuesday and the Bullets took a 26-15 lead into halftime.
The Falcons triggered three shot-clock violations in the first half.
The Orange and Blue held a 35-16 advantage in the second half to secure the victory.
Lily Guerra led the Concordia offense with eight points.
Junior Erin Viergutz (Clintonville, Wis.) led the flock with eight rebounds and a block on Tuesday afternoon.
The Falcons will fly north and return to Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play in 2023 against Lakeland on Jan. 4.
