Hafemann Reaches Milestone Against Rockford

MEQUON, Wis. – There was a lot to celebrate on Alumnae Day for women's basketball on Saturday. The Falcons posted a 62-45 victory over Rockford to improve to 3-3 on the year and to 2-1 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

A layup from senior Aubrey Buchholtz (Seymour, Wis.) gave the Falcons the lead at 7-6 halfway through the first quarter and the Falcons never gave up the lead the rest of the day. A pair of free throws from Junior Lily Guerra (Yorkville, Ill.) gave the Falcons a 14-10 lead after 10 minutes.

The Falcons came out blazing in the second quarter and pushed the lead up to 25-11 with a jumper from Buchholtz. The biggest lead of the half came at 31-14 after senior Emily Hafemann (Hales Corners, Wis.) sank a layup. Hafemann scored nine points in her race to capture her 100th point and finished the first half at 999 points.

Emily Hafemann then scored a layup at the 2:02 mark of the third quarter to reach the milestone. She is the first Falcon to score 1000 career points since Clara Chambers.

The Falcons went into the fourth quarter up 46-34.

The Regents did not fold and cut the CUW lead to 48-40 with 7:11 remaining.

The Falcons closed the game on a 14-5 run anchored by a three-point basket from Emily Hafemann to close the scoring.

Emily Hafemann led the contest with a double-double performance with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Senior Reagan Obry (Neenah, Wis.) and Aubrey Buchholtz also had 11 points each in the victory. Obry also dished out a game-high four assists and three blocks.

The Falcons look to keep the momentum rolling on Wednesday against MSOE.
