Men’s Track & Field Finishes Eighth at Private Championships

WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's track & field team competed at the Wisconsin Private College Championships on Saturday. The Falcons finished in eighth place as a team with 36 points. The Firebirds of Carthage claimed the title with 162 points.

Senior Timmy Brey (Cedarburg, Wis.) collected a fourth-place finish in the 1500-meter run at 4:06.57.

Junior Bernie Van Den Heuvel (Valders, Wis.) qualified for the 110-meter hurdles finals and finished fourth at 16.35. He also led the flock in the 200-meter dash in 32nd place at 24.65.

The Falcons placed four in the top 12 in the javelin competition on Saturday. Senior Seth Day (Sunset Hills, Mo.) spearheaded the CUW attack in fourth place at 44.64 meters. In sixth place was freshman Zach Wendland (Green Bay, Wis.) at 43.24 meters and sophomore Nick Taylor (West Bend, Wis.) finished in 12th place at 36.40 meters.

The second fourth-place finish in the hurdles for the Falcons came from Zach Wendland. He finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles at 58.58.

Junior Nate Waech (West Bend, Wis.) reached 3.96 meters in the pole vault competition to finish in fifth place.

The Falcons finished in eighth place with the team of sophomore Mason Knueppel (Jackson, Wis.), freshman Josh Sipes (Charleston, Ill.), Nick Taylor and Bernie Van Den Heuvel at 46.19.

Senior Ryan Klug (Arlington, Va.) represented Concordia in the 3000-meter steeplechase in seventh place at 12:03.19. He also finished fifth in the triple jump at 11.46 meters.

Seth Day had the best mark for Concordia in the shot put in 12th place at 12.55 meters.

The hammer throw competition saw sophomore John Kutner (Muskego, Wis.) lead the Blue and White in 12th place at 36.62 meters. He also led the Falcons in the discus throw at 29.41 meters

Mason Knueppel had the best mark for CUW in the long jump pit at 5.81 meters in 15th place.

Freshman Riley Johnson (Cedar Lake, Ind.) was the fastest Falcon in the 400-meter dash at 55.75 in 18th place.

In the 5000-meter run, freshman Karl Glick (Boca Raton, Fla.) crossed the finish line at 16:53.20 in 20th place.

Freshman Ian Brown (Wheaton, Ill.) led the flock in the 100-meter dash in 47th place at 12.93.

The Blue and White return to action on Saturday at the Beloit Relays.
