Falcons Finish NACC Indoor Championships

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The CUW men's track and field team collected 44 points and finished seventh overall at the NACC Indoor Championships.  

The day started on a high note for the Falcons, as freshman Zach Wendland (Green Bay, Wis.) finished with 3,985 points, claiming second place overall.  

After Friday's performance, Freshman Zach Wendland (Green Bay, Wis.) started the day in fifth place in the heptathlon but quickly shot up the leaderboard following his excellent performances in the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault, and 1,000-meter run. In the 60-meter dash, he would take second overall at 9.37 seconds, while pole vault saw him take fourth with a mark of 2.95 meters.

Wendland ultimately saved his best for last, taking first in the 1,000-meter dash at 2:49.93. 

Junior Timmy Brey (Cedarburg, Wis.) reached the podium again and took second in the 3,000-meter run, finishing at 8:48.49 as he turned on the jets in the final lap to jump from third to second. As a result, he totaled eight team points. 

Also putting together another successful day was junior Mitchell Moeller (Cedarburg, Wis.), who took sixth in the shot put with a mark of 12.74 meters.  

Two Falcons tallied team points in the 60-meter hurdles, as junior Bernie Van Den Heuvel finished with a time of 8.80 in the 60-meter hurdles (Valders, Wis.). His time secured him third place and CUW six team points. Also locking up points in the event was sophomore Brandon Donahue (Slinger, Wis.), who ran 9.33 seconds for eighth place and one point. 

The 800-meter saw freshman Riley Johnson (Cedar Lake, Ind.) take first in his heat at 2:10.92. In the same event, Isaiah Lubner would once again lead the flock, recording a time of 1:59.10, good for fourth place and five team points. 

Leading the Falcons in the triple jump was sophomore Mason Knueppel (Jackson, Wis.), who had a mark of 11.86 meters. 

Freshman Ben Wrenn (Good Hope, Ill.) led the way for the Falcons in the high jump, clearing a high of 1.70 meters in his second attempt. 

In the one mile, freshman Isaiah Lubner (Campbellsport, Wis.) recorded a time of 4:26.11.

Freshman Josh Sipes (Charleston, Ill.) recorded a time of 56.62 seconds in the 400-meter dash, which led all CUW participants. 

The 4x400-meter relay comprised Josh Sipes, freshman Aaron Klug (Arlington, Va.), sophomore Nick Taylor (West Bend, Wis.), and Riley Johnson ran a 3:56.67. 

From here, the Blue and White will take a much-deserved break before returning to the track to compete at the Wisconsin Private College Championships on April 6th
