Wendland Represents CUW at Augustana

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – On Friday at the Augustana Meet of Champions, freshman Zach Wendland (Green Bay, Wis.) competed in the decathlon for the CUW men's track and field team.

Through the first five events, Wendland sits in 13th place among 28 competitors with 3,070 points.

Wendland had his best finish of the day in the high jump, as he cleared a height of 1.90 meters for third place overall, contributing 714 points to his total.

The freshman also placed in the top ten in the 400-meter run, recording a time of 53.21 seconds, good for tenth and 673 points.

Wendland scored 556 points in the long jump and leaped 5.86 meters in his first attempt, good for 18th overall amongst the other decathletes.

Similarly, Wendland took 19th place in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line with a time of 12.01 seconds, adding 649 points to his total. 

Soon after, Wendland headed over to the thrower's pit, where he recorded a mark of 9.88 meters in the shot put, earning 478 points. 

Zach Wendland will wrap up the second half of the decathlon tomorrow from Augustana. Meanwhile, the rest of the CUW track team will resume competition at the Wisconsin Lutheran College Green and White Invite, starting at 10:00 a.m.
