Falcons Battle in Beloit

BELOIT, Wis. - The Concordia Wisconsin men's track and field battled at the Beloit Relays on Saturday.  

As a team, the Blue and White totaled 55 points for a sixth-place finish, while St. Norbert took first, with 189 points. 

Freshman Karl Click (Boca Raton, Fla.) shined in the 10,000-meter run as he snagged third place with a time of 36:04.45, earning the Falcons eight team points. 

Meanwhile, senior Timmy Brey (Cedarburg, Wis.) and freshman Isaiah Lubner (Campbellsport, Wis) combined for 13 points, as Brey took third with a time of 4:08.06, while Lubner registered a time of 4:15.66, good for sixth place. 

Freshman Riley Johnson (Cedar Lake, Ind.) earned the Blue and White three points, as he put together a seventh-place finish with a time of 2:12.26. 

CUW also earned points in the 4x100-meter relay as the squad of sophomore Mason Knueppel (Jackson, Wis.), freshman Josh Sipes (Charleston, Ill.), sophomore Nick Taylor (West Bend, Wis.), and junior Bernie Van Den Heuvel (Valdres, Wis.) ran a combined time of 47.13 seconds.

Van Den Heuvel also scored points in the 110-meter hurdles as he snagged sixth place along with three team points with a time of 16.36 seconds.

The 400-meter hurdles also saw CUW take home 10 points, as freshman Zach Wendland (Green Bay, Wis.) secured fourth place as he ran a 57.66 while Josh Sipes took sixth with a time of 1:01.05.

In the triple jump, Mason Knueppel and freshman Aaron Klug (Arlington, Va.) combined for seven points, as Knueppel leaped a distance of 11.50 meters, while Klug put together an 11.46 meter leap seventh place and three team points. 

Finally, the javelin saw senior Seth Day (Sunset Hills, Mo.) take fourth with a throw of 48.15 meters, while Nick Taylor scored a point for his throw of 40.09 meters. 

The Falcons will have a two-day meet next week as they head south to Augustana for the Augustana Meet of Champions, starting at 3:00 p.m. on Friday and 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
