Zach Wendland Named NACC Field Athlete of the Week
MEQUON, Wis. – Zach Wendland was awarded for his outstanding performance this past weekend at Wisconsin-Whitewater. The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference released its Student-Athlete of the Week honors on Tuesday morning. Zach Wendland was voted as the NACC Student-Athlete of the Week for Men's Field by the league's communications professionals.
A freshman from Green Bay, Wisconsin, Zach Wendland is claiming the honor for the second time in the last three weeks.
Wendland's outstanding performance secured him the 63rd-best score in NCAA Division III and the program record in the heptathlon event at the Leonard "Squig" Converse Invitational.
In the 60-meter dash, Wendland ran a time of 7.85 seconds, while he had a personal record in the 1000-meter run with a time of 2:47.93, clinching third position among heptathlon participants.
The 60-meter hurdles witness Wendland setting another personal record, completing the race in an impressive 9.53 seconds, earning him fourth among heptathletes.
Meanwhile, he recorded a mark of 7.49 meters in the shot put.
In the field events, Wendland notched two top-three finishes, claiming third place in the high jump with a height of 1.74 meters and third in the pole vault, clearing a height of 2.95 meters, while his long jump measured an impressive 5.67 meters.
Julius Wardlow of Illinois Tech was named the NACC Student-Athlete of the Week for Men's Track.
Wendland and the Falcons return to action this weekend at Stevens-Point.
