Men's Tennis Opens ITA Action

SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's tennis team opened play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Championships and the Midwest Invite on Friday.

Junior Landon Sather (Fort Wayne, Ind.) started the day with a 3-6, 6-4, 10-5 victory over Ethan Wurtzel of Eau Claire. He then fell to No. 2 Marco Siviero of Gustavus, 6-3, 4-6, 10-4.

Freshman Renan Revite (São Bernardo do campo, Brazil) lost to Luther's Benvenutti, 6-3, 6-4.

The team of Landon Sather and senior Joshua Klement (Muskego, Wis.) fell to Coe, 8-4.  

At the Midwest Invite, Joshua Klement lost to Sree Sharan Kanugovi of UWS, 0-4, 4-1, 10-4.

Freshman Shaun Del Vecchio (Alpharetta, Ga.) opened the tournament with a 4-2, 4-2 victory over Luke Spika of La Crosse. Joao Costa of St. Olaf then advanced with a 2-4, 4-2, 10-7 victory.

Senior Isaac Bruins (Oak Creek, Wis.) bounced Jon Olafsson of Edgewood, 1-4, 4-1, 10-6. Cathal Mee of St. Olaf then advanced with a 4-1, 4-0 victory.

Bode Carter of Coe downed sophomore Dylan Nadolski (Menomonee Falls, Wis.).

Freshman Ben Hilpert (Pasadena, Md.) was tripped up by Kenny Schmiesing of La Crosse, 4-1, 4-1.

David Comings of Crown topped freshman Kristopher Greenhaw (Huntington Beach, Calif.).

In doubles play, Dylan Nadolski and Isaac Bruins beat up Kipton Jenson and Hunter Rice of Concordia Moorhead, 8-1.

Renan Revite and Shaun Del Vecchio were clipped by Bethel, 8-2.

The Falcons wrap up the competition on Saturday in Minnesota.
