MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin men's soccer team fell to 2-6-2 overall and 2-4-0 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play after a narrow 0-1 defeat to the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks on Saturday.
In the first half, junior goalkeeper Jeremy Munoz (Milwaukee, Wis.) made an impressive pair of saves within the opening 10 minutes, totaling 10 of his 12 saves before halftime.
Misfortune struck for the Falcons in the 37th minute when junior Carson Kelly (Fon du Lac, Wis.) hit the post with a free kick shot from nearly 25 yards out, just inches from finding the back of the net.
The Scarlet Hawks capitalized on a rebound from a Munoz save in the 44th minute, scoring the only goal of the match and taking a 1-0 lead into halftime.
After the break, Illinois Tech adopted a more defensive strategy, packing their back line and effectively stifling the Falcons' offensive efforts, resulting in a 0-1 final score.
Carson Kelly led the Falcons with three shots, while freshman Harris Burgos (Milwaukee, Wis.) and sophomore Vladimir Campos (Milwaukee, Wis.) recorded the team's only shots on goal.
Next up, the Falcons will focus on their upcoming match against the MSOE Raiders.
