Falcons Shutout the Regents

ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Falcons posted their first shutout of the season with a 2-0 victory at Rockford. The Falcons earned three points in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference standings, improving to 1-5-2 on the year and 1-3-0 in the NACC.

The Falcons had a great look early in the fourth minute when junior Carson Kelly (Fond du Lac, Wis.) spun past a defender and made the Rockford keeper make a leaping save.

10 minutes later sophomore Elliot Cook (Indianapolis, Ind.) found freshman Harris Burgos (Milwaukee, Wis.) open and Burgos tossed it past the keeper's left side. For his first collegiate goal.

In the 71st minute, Harris Burgos had another look at goal but the ball rolled into the keepers' hands.

The Falcons added an insurance goal in the 84th minute when senior Alishan Sharipov (Krasnodar, Russia) rolled the ball into the far corner off a beautiful pass from sophomore Vladimir Campos (Milwaukee, Wis.).

The Regents had their best opportunity of the day in the 88th minute with a penalty corner, but junior Jeremy Munoz (Milwaukee, Wis.) came up with a leaping save to preserve the shutout.

Jeremy Munoz posted three saves in his first clean sheet of the season.

The Falcons boasted a 15-13 advantage in shots on Sunday. Alishan Sharipov, Harris Burgos and Carson Kelly had three shots against the Regents.

Sunday was the seventh career shutout for Jeremy Munoz and his first since the 4-0 result at Lakeland on Oct. 23, 2023.

The Falcons look to keep the momentum rolling on Wednesday at St. Norbert.
