Falcons Falter Against MSOE

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat against the MSOE Raiders, dropping their record to 2-7-2 overall and 2-5-0 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play.

The match began evenly, with the first shot on goal coming from MSOE's Nico Picha, which was denied by junior Jeremy Munoz (Milwaukee, Wis.). Munoz quickly followed up with another save just three minutes later.

In the 18th minute, the Falcons managed to get a shot on target when senior Alishan Sharipov (Krasnodar, Russia) unleashed a powerful attempt after a blocked shot from sophomore Vladimir Campos (Milwaukee, Wis.). However, MSOE keeper Asher Harris denied Sharipov's effort.

As the first half progressed, MSOE ramped up the pressure on CUW's defense, finally breaking through with a goal in the 30th minute, taking a 1-0 lead into halftime.

After the break, Munoz recording two crucial saves within the first 90 seconds of the second half. However, the Raiders extended their lead in the 60th minute, making it 2-0. Unfortunately for the Falcons, their offense struggled to find its rhythm for the remainder of the match, giving MSOE the victory.

Sharipov led the Falcons with two shots on goal, while sophomore Brandon Marquez (Vernon Hills, Ill.) and freshman Jacob Wehage (Johnstown, Colo.) each added one shot on target. Munoz concluded the match with seven saves.

The Falcons will look to bounce back against the high-powered offense of the Edgewood Eagles this Saturday.
