Men's Soccer Rallies to Tie Lawrence

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's soccer team fought hard for 90 minutes in the season opener on Friday evening. The Falcons tied Lawrence, 1-1, to start the season at 0-0-1.

The Falcons found themselves in trouble with a red card in the ninth minute of the match and had to play a man down for the next 81 minutes.

The Vikings took advantage with a goal in the 12th minute.

The Blue and White had an excellent opportunity in the final minute of the first half when senior Alishan Sharipov (Krasnodar, Russia) drew a foul inside the box, but a pair of saves gave the Vikings a 1-0 lead at halftime.

Despite being down a man, the Falcons did a good job of maintaining possession to start the second half.

Sophomore Vladimir Campos (Milwaukee, Wis.) leveled the game with a blast from outside the 18-yard box.

Junior Jeremy Munoz (Milwaukee, Wis.) made some key saves to preserve the tie and finished the evening with three saves.

The Falcons had a 12-10 advantage in shots, including a 9-5 margin in the second half.

The Falcons return to action on Wednesday against Carthage.
