Rally Falls Short on Wednesday

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's soccer team fought until the final second on Wednesday evening. Wisconsin Lutheran was able to hold onto the 3-2 victory to send the Falcons to 0-5-2 and 0-3-0 in the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference.

The Falcons had the first look of the afternoon with a shot from freshman Harris Burgos (Milwaukee, Wis.) in the 12th minute.

Freshman Kyle Paler (Algonquin, Ill.) sent the ball to the net in the 33rd minute but was saved.

The teams went into halftime tied at zero.

The Warriors blitzed the Concordia net to start the second half. WLC had 11 shots in the first 10 minutes of the second half. The Green and White capitalized on a penalty kick in the 54th minute to take the lead.

WLC added to the lead with a second-chance goal in the 63rd minute.

The Warriors added another goal in the 69th minute to take a 3-0 lead.

Junior Carson Kelly (Fond du Lac, Wis.) launched the ball into the upper-right corner to start the comeback in the 81st minute off a pass from Harris Burgos.

Six minutes later, sophomore Vladimir Campos (Milwaukee, Wis.) scored off assists from Harris Burgos and senior Remy Stafford (Chicago, Ill.).

A minute later, the crossbar was unkind to the Falcons as the ball just rang out off the boot of freshman Huba Hajdu (Las Vegas, Nev.).

The Warriors were able to keep the ball away to preserve the victory.

The Green and White held a 26-20 advantage in shots. Senior Alishan Sharipov (Krasnodar, Russia) led the match with six shots and three shots on goal.

Junior Enrique Torres (Eau Claire, Wis.) finished with eight saves.

The Falcons look to return to the win column on Sunday at Rockford.
