Falcons slip past Ripon

Mequon

CUW gave up a 2-0 second half lead but then managed a golden goal in OT to defeat Ripon in non-conference action at Fitting Field last evening. The host Falcons got their first score 25 minutes into the match when freshman Zach Lemler took a pass from Victor Mendoza and confidently slipped it past the Red Hawk goalie.

After Trevor Hess added a second tally fifteen minutes into the second half the victory seemed secure, but Ripon had other ideas. The visitor's Joe Drexler beat a pair of CUW defenders less than two minutes after the Hess score and his volley made it 2-1. Falcon goalie Tom Anderson had not needed to make a single save to that point. At 77:20 it was Drexler again- this time setting up teammate Kevin Cedarholm to tie the match on what was only the second shot on goal by Ripon.

Tom Saleska's home forces ended the madness on Dan Braun's score- courtesy of Hess just three minutes into the overtime session. CUW is now 1-1-1 while the Red Hawks are 0-1-1.
