Falcons Come All the Way Back

Mequon

Trailing 3-0 with less than 30 minutes remaining, the Falcon botters roared back to tie visiting Carroll 3-3 in the non-conference opener for both teams earlier this evening.

The offensively talented Pioneers appeared to be in complete control after getting a pair of spectacular first half goals from Andy Prentice and what appeared to be a "seal the deal" tally from Andy Ksobiech 15 minutes into the second half.

Tom Saleska's squad was not in a give up mode however. A Victor Mendoza penalty kick finally got CUW on the board and set the stage for some amazing 11th hr. Falcon heroics.

Concordia had been the aggressor for most of the second half but it was not until Carl Haynes scored with 4:20 remaining, making it 3-2, that things got really frantic. With all of the Concordia players on attack, the ball was played repeatedly into the Carroll box before Jason Rogers finally got a clear shot with just :27 left in regulation. Rogers buried it to tie the score.

Neither team was able to get any solid opportunities for the golden goal in a pair of 10 minute overtime periods. Statistics were as close as the final score with each team managing17 shots and the goalies combining for 13 saves- seven by Falcon netminder Tom Anderson.
