Falcons Wreck Raiders

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW men's lacrosse team stayed perfect at home against the MSOE Raiders with an 11-10 victory on Wednesday that pushed the to 10-0 all-time at Fitting Field against the Raiders.

Senior Keijo Day (Esko, Minn.) got the Falcons off the ground with a goal off the stick of junior Jack Gromosky (Danville, Ind.).

The Raiders netted two goals to take the 2-1 lead.

Day wouldn't let that slide with his second of the contest off an assist from freshman Chase Drexler (Vernon Hills, Ill.).

MSOE scored their third to head into the first break with a 3-2 lead.

Max Esposito (Gaithersburg, Md.) came out with a fire in the second quarter. He scored three straight goals to push the Falcons out to their biggest lead of the game at two goals. He was assisted by Drexler on the first goal, junior Noah Brandt (Owatonna, Minn.) on the second, and netted the third without help.

MSOE ended the half on a high note with a goal that cut the Falcon lead to one.

The Raiders tied up the game just six seconds into the third quarter.

Keijo Day recorded his third and fourth goals to answer with a pair of unassisted goals to push the Falcons back out to two at 7-5.  

MSOE evened the score at seven with a pair of goals to end the quarter.

Day started the final frame on a high note with a goal that was assisted by sophomore Dylan Loftus (Chicago, Ill.).

The Raiders pushed ahead at 10-8 threatening the Falcon victory.

The Blue and White didn't allow another goal but added three more of their own for the victory. 

Day added the first to cut the deficit to one. Drexler showed off his tricks with an unassisted goal to tie the game and the winning assist to freshman Pat Ryan (Western Springs, Ill.) to seal the victory.

Junior Adam Nichols (Meridian, Idaho) secured 15 saves in his 60 minutes.

The Flock was a perfect 17-17 on clearance attempts this afternoon.

The Falcons finish the regular season on Saturday with a matchup against Illinois Tech.
