Men's Golf finishes tied for ninth at MSOE Invitational
LAKE GENEVA, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin finished in a tie for ninth place at the difficult MSOE Invitational on Monday afternoon at Grand Geneva Resort. __ Evan Rabas paced the Falcons with a tie for 12th place.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons couldn't move up the leaderboard after the opening 18 holes and finished in a tie for ninth place after shooting a 323-306 (629) team total. Their 306 scoring during the second round was a season low and four shots shy of the program record.
- Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference foe Edgewood won the team trophy with a 36 total of 587 (294-293). Individually, it was Ryonen Faris (Marian) who took home medalist honors with a 3-under par 140 total (66-74).
- Rabas (Sherwood, Wis.) paced CUW's lineup with a 152 total (78-74) to tie for 12th place. The 74 shot on Monday was a season low and two shots off his career best.
- Senior Chris Payne (Waukesha, Wis.) carded back-to-back 78s to finish in a tie for 22nd place. It was the second time he first consecutive rounds in the 70s this season.
- Senior Jason Meyer (Dunlap, Ill.) rebounded nicely from a disappointing first round 88 with a 2-over par 74 to tie for 33rd. His 74 is a career low and helped him jump 22 spots on the leaderboard after the opening round.
- Junior Bill Jones (New Holstein, Wis.) improved three strokes from Sunday to Monday and ended with an 83-80 (163) to tie for 36th place.
- Sophomore Kyle Rebholz (West Bend, Wis.) also improved three strokes and rounded out the Falcons lineup with an 84-81 (165) to tie for 43rd on the leaderboard.
BEYOND THE RESULTS
- CUW's 306 set a new season low and was three shots better than the previous best of 309 from its round at the Marian Invitational on Sept. 13.
- Rabas and Payne became the second set of Falcons to each shoot in the 70s at a tournament this season. Previously, Jones and Rebholz did so at the Marian Invitational (Sept. 12-13).
- Payne's career low round of 74 is also the lowest round by a Falcon this season and tied for the ninth best in program history.
- Rabas' total of 152 is tied for the fourth best 36-hole total in program history.
NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- The Falcons prepare for the first and second rounds of the NACC Championship, which begins on Saturday at Lawsonia Golf Club in Green Lake, Wis. The final two rounds of the tournament will be played in the spring at Stonebridge Golf Course in Aurora, Ill.
