Falcons compete at Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational

HARTFORD, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin faced a difficult field on Sunday and Monday at the Wisconsin Lutheran College Invitational, and finished in eighth place as a team. Chris Payne led the Falcons with a tie for 12th place.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Despite a six-shot improvement from the first to second rounds, the Falcons stayed in eighth place. They fired a 318 in the first round on Sunday and followed it with a 312 in the second round on Monday.
- Senior Chris Payne (Waukesha, Wis.) jumped 12 spots up the leaderboard after improving two strokes after shooting a 77-75 (152) total. He was the only Falcon to shoot both rounds in the 70s.
- Sophomore Kyle Rebholz (West Bend, Wis.) carded a 76-83 (159) to tie for 37th place. He was tied for 16th after Sunday's round.
- Junior Bill Jones (New Holstein, Wis.) had the biggest improvement in the Falcons lineup after shooting an 84 in the first round before coming back with a 76 on Monday to tie for 40th.
- Junior Evan Rabas (Sherwood, Wis.) ended with an 83-78 (161) to improve five shots and six spots on the leaderboard to place 42nd.
- Senior Jason Meyer (Dunlap, Ill.) finished in 53rd after signing for an 82-83 (165) total.
- Senior Mike Loftus (Germantown, Wis.) competed as an individual in the second round and shot an 84.

BEYOND THE RESULTS
- CUW's 312 in the second round was the seventh best round in program history.
- Payne drained a team-best six birdie putts during the tournament and also made 19 par putts. He was the only Falcon to shoot each nine in the 30s.
- Rebholz sank an eagle putt on the 545-yard par 5 seventh hole in the first round and also had 11 pars, including a streak of five in a row on the back nine on Sunday. He followed it with three birdies and three pars on Monday.
- Jones sank a birdie on the third hole in the second round and drained 22 pars over the course of the 36 holes.
- Rabas had a pair of birdies on par 4s and signed for 18 pars. He was 1-over-par on par 5s.
- Meyer sunk a pair of birdies on the back nine on Monday for a 39, in addition to making 17 pars during the tournament.
- Loftus had a birdie and five pars during his round on Monday.
