Clemins finishes T-8 at Wisconsin State Amateur Championship

ERIN, Wis. – P.J. Clemins finished in a tie for eighth place at the Wisconsin State Amateur Championship on Thursday afternoon at Erin Hills Golf Course, sponsored by CliftonLarsonAllen. The freshman on the Men's Golf team at Concordia University Wisconsin led the tournament in back nine scoring average.

The Cedarburg, Wis., native finished with a four-round total of 299 (77-75-73-74). He excelled and was tied for second with 13 birdies, and vaulted himself up the leaderboard by finishing 2-under overall on the back nine (35.5 average). He was also tied for eighth in par-4 scoring average (4.2).

During the tournament, Clemins was superb on the par-5 14th hole measuring 610 yards, as he finished with three birdies. Overall, there were just 10 birdies made on the 14th hole with 156 golfers in the tournament. He also made just one of five birdies on each of the par-4 3rd hole (435 yards) and the par-4 12th hole (430 yards).

This past spring Clemins was named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Freshman of the Year after shooting a 54-hole total of 235 (71-80-84). His efforts helped the Falcons tie for first at the NACC Championship, the first time in program history.

Erin Hills is the host site of the upcoming 2017 U.S. Open.
