Clemins ties for 7th, Men's Golf ties for 4th at Elmhurst Spring Invitational

OAK BROOK, Ill. – P.J. Clemins finished in a tie for seventh, while Concordia University Wisconsin tied for fourth at the difficult Elmhurst College Spring Invitational at Oak Brook Golf Club on Thursday. The Falcons entered the clubhouse as the early leader, but host Elmhurst won the tournament.

Clemins (Cedarburg, Wis.) continued his impressive run leading the Falcons for the third-consecutive tournament, all in the last week. He carded a 74, which included four birdies and eight pars. CUW ended with a 311 team total (23-over) and has shot 315 or lower the last four rounds.

Elmhurst won the team trophy with a 7-over par 295 total to edge Carthage College by three strokes. Kyle Brenkman (Elmhurst) won medalist honors with a 4-under par 68, while Jarrett Simonson (Carthage) shot a 1-under par 71.

Sophomore Evan Rabas (Sherwood, Wis.) fired a 6-over par 78, which included a birdie and nine pars, to tie for 22nd place. Junior Bill Jones (New Holstein, Wis.) and freshman Kyle Rebholz (West Bend, Wis.) each carded a 7-over par 79 to tie for 30th. Jones had a birdie and nine pars, while Rebholz sank two birdie putts and made eight pars.

Junior Mike Loftus (Germantown, Wis.) ended with an 8-over par 80 to tie for 40th and junior Jason Meyer (Dunlap, Ill.) shot a 9-over par 81 to tie for 46th. Senior Chris Payne (Waukesha, Wis.) rounded out the lineup with an 83, which was good for a tie for 60th. Loftus drained three birdie putts, while Meyer had two and Payne made one.

CUW competes next at the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championship on Sunday and Monday at Stonebridge Country Club in Aurora, Ill. The tournament is scheduled for 18 holes on Sunday and 36 holes on Monday.
