Men's Golf shows promise in season opener

FOND dU LAC, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin showed a tremendous amount of promise for the rest of the season after having three golfers finish in the top-10 at the season-opening Marian University Fall Invitational at Whispering Springs Golf Course.

The Falcons sent two teams to the tournament, with the first squad taking second place and the second unit finishing in sixth. Overall, CUW had five golfers place in 19th or better.

Edgewood College won the team trophy with a two day total of 627 (311-316), while Kaleb Rich (Rockford University) won medalist honors with a 1-over-par 145 total (70-75).

Junior Bill Jones (New Holstein, Wis.) and sophomore Evan Rabas (Sherwood, Wis.) led the Falcons with a tie for sixth place. Jones shot an opening round 6-over-par before ending with a 158 total (78-80) and Rabas improved four shots in the second round before walking off the course with a 158 total (81-77).

Sophomore Oliver Sadiq (Elkhart Lake, Wis.) ended with a 10th place finish after shooting a 161 total (76-85), which included a 4-over-par opening round. Junior Elijah Glasenapp (Milwaukee, Wis.) and Nate Hasenstein each had a 169 total to tie for 19th place.

CUW returns to the course on Friday and Saturday for the two-day Pilot Invitational, hosted by Bethel College (Ind.) at Blackthorn Golf Course in South Bend, Ind.
