Concordia scores were higher on day two (Sunday) of the Marian Invitational, dropping the Falcons to 9th place among the 10 competing schools.

Eric Hertel was the lone Falcon to have significant Day 2 success with a 79- following an 85 on the first day of competition.

Hertel's 2 day 164 total gave him 16th place individually in this meet. Greg Rusch (171); Michael Phung (182); and Jon Waters (183) rounded out CUW scoring.

Concordia finished 49 strokes behind first place Lakeland.

"We fell below our expectations on Friday," said coach Ray Engelking.

"On Saturday we headed to Whispering Springs GC for the conference invite. Our guys shot well on Saturday, but our fortunes turned on Sunday and we finished the day with only four golfers. Eric Hertel is now beginning to show his ability by leading all our team scores with a fine 79."

Coming up next week is the Carthage Classic 9/18 (at Brighton Dale GC- Kansasville, WI), and AU/NC Invite 9/20 (at Cress Creek CC- Naperville, Ill).
